At Obsequio Group, we are passionate about fostering the next generation of fire and security professionals. That’s why we were delighted to attend the Skills for Security Fire & Security Careers Fair, an event dedicated to showcasing career opportunities within this vital industry.
The Skills for Security Careers Fair is an event created to connect young talent with employers in the fire and security sector. It provided an invaluable opportunity for students, apprentices, and career changers to engage with industry experts, explore training pathways, and learn more about the future of fire and security technology.
Representing Obsequio Group at the event was our Head of People, Jeni McLaren, alongside CDS apprentice Mason Rayns – who proudly arrived with his fully equipped work van. Their presence underscored our commitment to developing talent and providing real-world insights into the careers available in fire and security.
Mason Rayns, an apprentice with CDS was able to talk about careers in fire and his journey so far. With his branded work van stocked with essential tools and equipment, Mason shared firsthand experiences of life as an apprentice, offering attendees a glimpse into the daily responsibilities and learning opportunities within the role.
For many young people considering a career in the sector, seeing a real-life apprentice provided a tangible and relatable perspective. Mason’s enthusiasm and insights highlighted how an apprenticeship can be a rewarding route into the industry, offering hands-on training, qualifications, and long-term career prospects.
Jeni McLaren, Obsequio Group’s Head of People, was on hand to discuss the wealth of career opportunities available across our group of companies – CDS, Genex, Drax360, APS Security, Brunel Security, Bryland Fire Protection, Metro Safety, Dakro Air & Water and Environtec. She engaged with students, educators, and job seekers, providing guidance on training pathways, apprenticeship schemes, and professional development within fire and security.
Jeni emphasised the industry’s growing demand for skilled professionals and how Obsequio Group is actively investing in talent development. Whether through apprenticeships, ongoing training, or mentorship programs, we are committed to supporting individuals in building successful careers in fire and security.
The fire and security industry is essential to public safety and business protection. As technology evolves, so too do the skills required to design, install, and maintain cutting-edge fire and security systems. Events like the Skills for Security Careers Fair help to bridge the gap between young talent and industry professionals, ensuring that the next generation is equipped with the knowledge and opportunities needed to thrive.
For those who attended the event and are considering a career in fire and security, Obsequio Group is always open to discussions about apprenticeships, training, and career progression. Our goal is to inspire, educate, and provide clear pathways into an industry that offers stability, innovation, and the chance to make a real impact.
